Anejaculation

Anejaculation is the absence of ejaculation and compromises fertility because there is no seminal fluid available to transport sperm on their way to the female genital tract.

Causes

Situational anejaculation and total anorgasmic anejaculation usually occur due to psychological factors, however, total orgasmic anejaculation can be caused by:
Diabetes
Prostatic hyperplasia (prostate enlargement)
Prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate)
Abdominal surgeries
Urological surgeries such as prostatectomies
Neurological disorders
Parkinson's disease
Multiple sclerosis
Spinal cord injuries
Use of antidepressant drugs such as fluoxetine
Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy
Retrograde ejaculation

Symptoms

Anejaculation has no symptoms, so it is necessary to see a specialist for diagnosis.

Diagnosis

The more information you can give the specialist about your medical history, the better able he or she will be to identify the causes of anejaculation.

In addition to a physical examination for evidence of other medical conditions, your doctor may perform a post-orgasmic urine test. If sperm are found in the urine, the diagnosis of retrograde ejaculation is confirmed.
