Ingenes Merida: Fulfilling dreams in Mexican southeast

On August 15, 2017, Ingenes opened its doors in the southeast of Mexico, specifically in the capital of the state of Yucatan. This is undoubtedly an important location, where the mayan culture merges with the modern lifestyle of Mérida, one of the cities with the best life quality in Mexico.

Dr. Miguel Jaimes Rodríguez is the Medical Director and head of the team at this branch. He studied Obstetrics and Gynecology, and during the last stage of his specialty, he met Dr. Inés Hernández Marín, who at that time was the head of Biology of Human Reproduction at the Juárez Hospital in Mexico City. It was she who inspired Dr. Jaimes to obtain this sub-specialty.

“It’s a very complex part that sometimes as gynecologists we do not address correctly or completely. It intrigued me a lot, and that's how I got into this field of Reproductive Biology”, he said.

At the beginning of 2014, Dr. Jaimes began his work at the Ingenes Institute in Mexico City. What convinced him to be part of this team was the fact that the Ingenes philosophy was always highlighted by empathy.

“I fell in love with the work they do at the Institute, since the emotional part and the commitment to that human side were very much addressed. I felt that the goal was not only to have a job as doctors, but to fulfill the dreams of those couples who want to be parents”.

It was not until Ingenes opened its third branch in Mérida that Dr. Miguel had the great opportunity to lead a branch and start the journey of many families in this region of the country.

"Starting from scratch and bringing the 'Ingenes model' to this region was quite a challenge, it was a challenge to meet new people and get to know the beautiful culture of the mexican southeast".

A team committed to making the dreams of maternity and paternity come true

In addition, the opening of this branch made it possible for the Ingenes Mérida team to welcome patients from the entire state of Yucatán, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Quintana Roo and even families from the southeastern regions of the United States and Central America.

The Ingenes Mérida team is made up of seven doctors: Five specialists in Assisted Reproduction, an anesthesiologist and a specialist in Maternal-Fetal medicine. Besides, the branch has three biologists and a nursing team, headed by the NP Julia Domínguez. The team is completed with the administrative area, led by Tomás Yamamoto.

“What motivates me the most is knowing that when we help a woman or a couple, we transform their lives. That smile, that joy, seeing them get out of that pain of not being able to have a baby. Gynecology and obstetrics is limited to treating pregnant women, but we as an Institute create life, we led the way to fulfill that dream. And seeing that our patients do whatever it takes, noticing that they give up a lot to be able to have that long-awaited baby, is the most inspiring thing” says Dr. Jaimes.

Dr. Miguel Jaimes, along with his consolidated team, are ready to welcome more patients in the beautiful state of Yucatan, always with the mission of fulfilling dreams and transforming lives. That’s the cornerstone to continue many more years providing a quality service, with empathy and commitment.
