Astenozoospermia

Asthenozoospermia is a decrease in male sperm motility and compromises fertility because it prevents sperm from travelling to the egg and fertilization from occurring.

Causes

Although the exact causes of asthenozoospermia are not known, there are factors that may play a role, such as:
Teratozoospermia
Varicocele
Seminal infections
Testicular problems
Poor nutrition
Excessive use of alcohol, caffeine, tobacco or other drugs
Age (+45 years)
Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy
Prolonged exposure to heat in cars, saunas or hot tubs

Symptoms





Asthenozoospermia has no symptoms, so it is necessary to see a specialist for diagnosis.





Diagnosis

It is diagnosed by seminogram or semen analysis.
